Vastu and Feng Shui have evolved in two different
setups. However, both aim to make premises or space suitable for all living with positive energies.
Here we have discussed the various conflicts
existing between the two sciences namely Vastu and Feng Shui.
1. Conflicts
on Kitchen
In Vastu, the zone of the kitchen should be facing
south-east that is the fire zone. In Feng Shui, kitchen should also be in
south-east zone that is the wood zone supporting fire. A green kitchen in the
south-east zone is ideal for Vastu and Feng Shui. However, if south-east zone
is not available for the kitchen, then north-west zone is allowed in Vastu.
Yet, in Feng Shui, north-west zone is the patriarch zone governed by metal. The
fire in kitchen burns away and melts energies of patriarch or metal and that is
undesirable. This contradiction leads you to refrain from having a kitchen in
the north-west zone.

2. North-East
zone
North-east zone is considered to be the zone of the
mind in both Vastu and Feng Shui. In Vastu, water is placed in this region.
Meanwhile in Feng Shui, earth is placed and allowed to have earthy and fiery
tones too. Fire destroys water sticking to earthly tones. Hence, using tones of
red is acceptable in both Vastu and Feng Shui.
3. Colours
In Feng Shui, colour tones depending on the five
elements governing each zone is important. Hence, it is recommended to follow
the colour scheme as suggested in Feng Shui. Always ensure that the colours do
not clash with those recommended in Vastu. Best method is to stick to using
basic soft toned colours. You should use strong colours like black, blue, green
and red wisely and appropriately.

4. Vastu
Zones
In Vastu, the various different zones are
demarcated clearly based on their functions. Ideally, the temple should be in
the north-east zone. The living room should be in the east. The kitchen should
be in the south or south-east. The head of the family should occupy the south
zone. Most of the room allocations are made in this particular zone due to its
strength.
In Feng Shui, theory of number calculation based on
your date of birth is considered. Hence, there are certain directions that are
suitable for your positive energy but, others are not. You require advice and
help from experts of Feng Shui. In order to set up your home, you should follow
directions mentioned in Vastu to allocate rooms.
