20. Bad breath & mouth ulcers

1. Soak triphala churna at night. In the morning, after brushing your teeth, fill your mouth with this water. 

2. Rinse vigorously around the teeth and gums and then spit out. With this, gums and teeth remain strong through old age. 

3. It is beneficial to brush your teeth occasionally with triphala churna. 

By gargling with triphala water, as described, ailments like apathy, halitosis (bad breath) and ulcers in the mouth get destroyed.

Caution

If you have to drink milk, then keep an interval of two hours between having triphala and drinking milk.


How to Consume or Use the Triphala?

1.      It is recommend taking 1 tbsp of triphala with warm water, but if you finds it hard to gulp it down, mixing it with ½ teaspoon honey or lemon or crystal sugar(misri) is a good idea. Remember - add one of these only to slightly improve the taste of triphala churn, not to make it taste syrupy & sweet.

2.      The finest way is to consume the triphala powder early in the morning on an empty stomach with warm water.

3.      Alternatively you can consume the triphala churn at night about 1 hour before bed time with warm water or melted butter.

4.      There is no recommended dosage, so the best is to recognize the dosage that works for you.



Is Triphala suitable for everyone?

1.      Pregnant women and lactating mothers should not take Triphala unless prescribed by the doctors.

2.      People with a sensitive stomach must avoid it or take it in very small quantity, as it may cause loose stools.

3.      People allergic to any of the ingredients (Amla, Harad, Baheda) in Triphala it is better to avoid using this powder or capsules internally and externally.

4.      Triphala has cleansing properties (Shodhana), so it is not usually suggested for thin people. But, a thin adult can consume ½ teaspoon of Triphala along with 1 tablespoon of ghee before sleep at night. The nourishing properties of ghee (melted butter) would settle the cleansing effect of Triphala powder.


5.      People with acute fever should not take triphala.

6.      Triphala powder is a natural detoxifying recipe. As part of the cleansing process it is not unusual for toxins to be released from the deeper tissues and go into the bloodstream on their way to being ushered out of the body’s system. Hence, when many toxins are released at once it can prompt a ‘healing crisis’. For some people this can noticeable as nausea, rashes, headache in addition to acidity, diarrhea and upset stomach.

Remember - If any complications occur, simply reduce the amount you are consuming. It is best to stop use and consult a practitioner if the symptoms recur.

5. Aniseed & triphala

The humble aniseed is a valuable ingredient for restoring good eyesight. It is also works as a digestive aide. Keep the eyes healthy, bright and shining by consuming a mix of triphala powder (100 gm) and candy sugar called Misri (100 gm). Have just a tablespoonful of this blend with a bit of honey. Follow it up with a glass of lukewarm milk and soon you will see that your eyes are on their way to health.


7. Triphala with black pepper

Soak 50 grams of triphala in a glass of water overnight. Crush the soaked contents in the same water and reduce to pulp form. Fry the same in 2 tablespoon of cow’s ghee, add 3-4 black pepper, and salt and consume the same as you would eat other cooked vegetables. It is an optimal remedy to improve eyesight.



8. Triphala eye wash

Another good rinse found effective for eye protection is with triphala powder. Eye infections like sore eyes, eye sty, disorders like cataract, or simple eye strain are vanquished with this remedy.


1.      To prepare this, mix a tablespoonful of this powder with water and keep in a glass or clay pot overnight. The following morning, use a sieve to filter out the mixture, and then rinse eyes with the filtered liquid. Use this regularly for a month-long period.

2.      Every morning fill your mouth with cold water for minimum of 1 minute. During this period, wash your eyes with triphala water 3-4 times. After one minute spit this water out of your mouth. Follow this process again.

3.      Wash your eyes with the balance quantity of triphala liquid. For doing so and to get optimum mileage use glass eye cups and blink the eyes, at least 6-10 times. Repeat the process 2-3 times will Improve Eyesight.


9. Honey, ginger, onion eye drop

Make eye drops with juices of ginger, onion and lemon. You need just 1 teaspoon of each. Add three teaspoons of honey to the mix and preserve in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. Simply add a drop twice a day in each eye for a period of two or maximum three months to restore normal eye health.




10. Haritaki (harad)

1.      If a small Harar/ Haritaki fruit is sucked and its juice let in, it will prove effective in removing constipation and add to brightness of vision. It will improve eyesight naturally.

5. Ginger

Ginger has active element called Gingerol, which heals nasal congestion, cough, cold and sinus problem.

      1.      Crush few ginger roots and add them into your regular/green tea. The spicy aroma of ginger tea will quickly warm up our congested nasal passage and relieve in sinus symptoms.

      2.      Take 1 tablespoon fine paste of ginger and mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey and consume this paste twice a day before or after heavy meals to treat sinus problem, nasal congestion, cough, and cold.

1.      Add 1-2 teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in warm water and wash your nostrils/ sinus cavities.

2.      Add 2-3 teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in boiling water and inhale the steam for few minutes. This steam will quickly warm up our congested nasal passage and relieve in sinus symptoms.



3.      Mix 1 tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of honey in warm cup of water and consume this mixture.


7. Chicken broth or soup

Hot homemade chicken soup reduces chest and upper respiratory infections, cough and the symptoms of cold and flu. Chicken soup breaks down nasal congestion and facilitates the flow of mucus emission. It also gives relief from sore throat and to loosen thick phlegm.

Note: Just add garlic, ginger and black pepper in your regular chicken soup.

Eucalyptus contains strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, it is very famous traditional home remedy and it has been used for healing sinusitis, nasal congestion, cough, cold etc since a long time. 

      1.      Add only 1/2 teaspoon dried Eucalyptus leaves or one torn up fresh Eucalyptus leaf in your regular or herbal tea, Drink this warm tea twice a day. Do not consume more Eucalyptus tea or leaves, ½ 1/2 teaspoon dried Eucalyptus leaves or one torn up fresh Eucalyptus leaf is recommended.

2.      Add 1-2 teaspoon of Eucalyptus oil in boiling water and inhale the steam for few minutes. This steam will quickly warm up our congested nasal passage and relieve in sinus symptoms.

3.      Put 2-3 eucalyptus essential oil drops on your handkerchief and inhale the aroma regularly.

Pinch of turmeric
Powder of 2-3 black pepper
