15 BEST HOME REMEDIES TO REMOVE DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES, PUFFY EYES - PART 1



In today’s world dark circles under eyes are very common problem among most of the people; it is common for all ages. Under eyes dark circles get worse with age because the skin thins and loses subcutaneous fat, and exposes the blood vessels present under the skin. Under eye dark circle is not a disease. Hormonal imbalances during pregnancy, menstruation, and menopause also contribute to under eye dark circles.

1. Potato

Potato is well known for its natural bleaching properties, which lightens dark circles under eyes and reduces the puffiness around the eyes completely.

1. Peel and grate 1 medium size raw potato and extract the juice. Keep this potato juice in refrigerator for 5 minutes. Then dip clean cotton ball in the juice apply the juice around eyes and other affected areas before going bed. Leave it overnight and next morning wash it off with normal water. Repeat this remedy once or twice daily to remove dark circles and acne scars. If you are applying this in day time, then rinse off after 20-30 minutes.


2. Simply rub under eye area with slices of raw potato for 5-10 minutes, then put these slices on the eyes, leave it for 30 minutes and wash off with water. You can also use cucumber slices.

3. Mix 1 teaspoon of raw potato juice with 1 teaspoon of cucumber juice and apply on affected area. Then dip 2 cotton ball in this mixture and put them on eyelids for 20-30 minutes.

4. Make smooth paste of raw potato and add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in it, apply the mixture around eyes and other dark spots on the face and neck. Rinse off with warm or normal water after 30 minutes. Do this once a day and 4-5 times a week to lighten the dark circles.




2. Tea Bags

Green tea is rich sources of antioxidants and tannins, tea bags can lighten the dark circles. It contains tannins which reduces swelling and puffiness under eyes.

1. Boil 2 green tea bags in a cup of water for 5 minutes, and then keep these tea bags in refrigerator for 1 hour. Put these cold tea bags over eyes for 20-30 minutes. Follow this remedy once or twice a day until you get desired result.


2. Soak 2 chamomile tea bags in cup of hot water for 5 minutes and then keep them in refrigerator for 1 hour. Place these cold chamomile tea bags over and around the eyes for 30 minutes and wash off with water.

Best time to follow above remedies is morning, so keep the tea bags in the refrigerator before going to bed and use it in the morning.


3. Tomato

Tomato contains the lycopene antioxidant, which can lighten the under eye dark circles in few weeks.


1. Take medium size tomato and remove seeds from it. Grind this tomato and make smooth paste of it. Then add pinch of turmeric powder and 2 tablespoon of multani mitti. Mix all these ingredients properly and make fine paste of it, you can use some rose water to make smooth paste. Apply this paste around eyes and aver the face for 30 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Follow this once a day and 3-4 times a week for better result.

2. Mix 2 tablespoon of fresh tomato juice or pulp with 1 tablespoon of raw milk. Apply this paste over affected areas and rinse off with lukewarm water after 30 minutes. Do this every day for 2 weeks.

3. Mix 2 tablespoon of fresh tomato juice/pulp with 1 tablespoon of gram/lentil flour/besan, also add 1 teaspoon of rose water. Apply the mixture around eyes and other affected parts for 30 minutes, wash away with lukewarm water.

4. Add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in 1 tablespoon of tomato juice/pulp, also add pinch of turmeric, mix them well together and apply for 30 minutes. Do this 4-5 times a week for best result.  


4. Mint

Mint leaves gives cooling effects to our tired and heavy eyes and reduces dark circles under eyes.


1. Take 30 fresh mint leaves and crush them to make smooth paste, then add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice or tomato juice/pulp in it, mix well and apply this paste on affected areas under eyes and face. Leave it for 30 minutes and rinse off with water. Repeat this once a day until you get desired result.

2. Mix 2 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves paste with 1 tablespoon of raw milk and one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Apply the mixture on affected areas; allow it to sit for a 30 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

3. Crush 20-30 fresh mint leaves in 1-2 teaspoon of rose water and pinch of turmeric and make smooth paste of it. Apply the paste around eyes and other affected areas for 20-30 minutes and the wash it away with lukewarm water. Follow this 3-4 times a week to remove dark circles in few weeks. 




5. Rose Water

Rose water has rich antioxidants and skin enhancing properties which give cooling effects to our skin and eyes; it lightens the dark circles under the eyes, revitalizes the skin, rejuvenates skin tissue and strengthens skin cells.

1. Apply rose water on the dark skin, then dip 2 cotton balls in rose water and place them over the eyes for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water. Repeat this twice a day.


2. Mix 1 teaspoon of rose water with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice, mix them well and apply on the dark skin for 20-30 minutes. Do this 4-5 times a week for best result.

6. Curd, Basil/tulsi, Papaya

1. Prepare paste of 10 fresh basil/tulsi leaves and apply on the dark circles and dark spots for 30 minutes. Wash with normal water. Do this daily.

2. Add 2 tablespoon of curd in 1 tablespoon of bengal gram flour, you can also add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice in it. Mix them properly and make smooth paste. Apply the paste on affected areas for 30 minutes and wash it off with normal or lukewarm water. Follow this remedy 3-4 times a week.

3. Prepare 2 tablespoon of papaya paste from ripe papaya, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or 1 tablespoon of raw honey in it, mix well and apply over the dark circles for 30 minutes. Repeat this once a day for better result.
