20 Natural Home Remedies for Bad Breath/ Halitosis - Prevent Bad Breath Naturally



Bad breath is also known as halitosis, it is very embarrassing and can drop down our confidence level. There are many reasons for bad breath such as consumption of odorous foods, tobacco, smoking, gum disease, dry mouth, sinus conditions, Poor dental hygiene, sore throat, diabetes, acid reflux, Cavities, Dentures or braces, and large doses of vitamin supplements. But, the main cause of bad breath is the bacteria which build up on the tongue and between the teeth.

Maintaining good oral health is important to controlling bad breath. Regular intake of water is necessary for keeping our breath fresh. After eating food, swish water around mouth for 7-10 seconds to loosen food particles trapped between our teeth and cleans our mouth.

Following home remedies are very simple to follow and based on principles of ayurveda. These home remedies are completely natural and gives you guaranteed result in few days.


Fenugreek

Fenugreek seeds are very beneficial for the dry mouth and bad breath. It removes bacteria from tongue and teeth which causes bad breath. Fenugreek tea is extremely effective in case of bad breath and dry mouth is caused by catarrh infections. Fenugreek tea is also very useful in digestion and it cures acidity. 

1. Fenugreek tea

Boil 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds or powder in cup of water, also add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, You can add 5 basil leaves or mint leaves in it. Drink this tea 2-3 times a day.



2. Fenugreek seeds water

Boil 2 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds or powder in glass of water. Strain the water and swish this mixture around mouth and gargle. This mixture removes bacteria from your mouth, tongue and keeps your mouth moisturized.


Parsley

Parsley is rich source of chlorophyll, which is known as natural breath deodorizer and has bacteria fighting qualities. Chlorophyll also sweetens the digestive tract naturally. Parsley leaves also supports digestion by reducing the production of intestinal gas.

1. Chew some parsley leaves after every heavy meal to freshen your breath.
2. Boil cup of parsley leaves in glass of water and add in your daily diet or salad.



3. Vinegar with parsley

Mix 1-2 tablespoon of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar in cup of water and soak handful of parsley leaves in this water for 10-15 minutes. Chew these parsley leaves for 5 minutes and spit out.


4. Parsley juice

Blend some parsley juice or use juicer to extract glass of parsley juice. Drink ½ cup of this juice with adding 1 teaspoon of honey in it or swish this juice around mouth and gargle and spit out. Store this juice in refrigerator and use when you need fresh breath.



5. Salt water

Salt water is very beneficial to get rid of bad breath, as it removes bacteria present on the teeth, tongue and in our throat and tonsils. 

1.    Gargle your mouth with salt water. If possible, use crystal salt water for gargle.

2.    Mix 3-4 tablespoon crystal or tables salt in glass of warm or cold water. Swish this salt water in your mouth for few minutes and spit out. Salt water helps clean your mouth and tongue and also kills all bacteria that cause bad breath.



6. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is known as natural disinfectant and has some antiseptic properties which remove all the bacteria build up on teeth and tongue that cause mouth infections and bad breath.

1.    Brush your teeth with toothpaste which contains tea tree oil, you will find this toothpaste in grocery stores or in pharmacy.

2.    Put 5-6 drops of tea tree oil in your regular toothpaste and brush your teeth.

3.    Mix 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in 2 cup of warm water and use this mixture as mouthwash to clean your teeth, tongue and gargle. 


7. Olive oil

Mix 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil in cup of warm water, also add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in it, mix well and consume this mixture 2 times a day. You can add 1 tablespoon of honey to it. This will help you against bad breath and odor from nose.


8. Peppermint leaves

Boil handful of peppermint leaves in glass of water, strain the water and use this water as your regular mouthwash. Swish this water around mouth and gargle. Do this 2-3 times a day or after every heavy meal. Each day you will get fresh breath assured.
