Soothe Sunburn with Potato – 6 Ways to Relieve Sunburn Naturally


Why Potato?

Potato skin contains vitamin B, vitamin C, calcium, iron, potassium, fiber and other essential nutrients that can heal the skin injuries. Potato plays an important role in skincare, as they are very rich in vitamin C, which is very beneficial for maintaining skin health. Potato is very use for removal of dead skin cells, eye puffiness, facial blemishes, dark spots, dark circles, wrinkles and works magically as natural cleanser.


Sunburn can occur at any time of the year, as it is the expose to the sun’s harmful ultra-violet rays that which cause it. When you are over exposed with harmful UV rays, your skin increases its production of melanin. Prevention is the best thing to do with sunburn. UV rays exposure can cause premature aging, dark pigmentation, wrinkles and skin cancer. Potato has been used traditionally to cure various skin problems and hair loss, grey hair, split hair, dandruff and baldness.

To avoid painful, swelling, stinging, red and itching sunburn, try these natural home remedies. Following natural home solutions are fats healing, very simple and very effective.



1. Potato, Rose water, Honey

If you’ve found yourself with searing hot red skin, root up a few potatoes. Potatoes have pain relieving properties. It can heal skin irritations, sunburn, scratches, bites etc. It also reduces inflammation cause by sunburn. 

Ingredients

2 raw potatoes
Half cup rose water
2 tablespoon honey

Direction

       1.      Take 1-2 medium size potatoes, grate them or make small pieces of it. Do not peel them. Grind these potato pieces with half cup of rose water in grinder or blender to make smooth paste of it. Add 2 tablespoon of honey to it and mix them properly. Paste should be smooth not thick; you can use more rose water to make it smooth.

       2.      Clean your affected skin with cool water, pat dry and then immediately apply this paste on the affected skin. Leave it for 30-40 minutes and rinse off with cool water. Do this once or twice a day.


2. Potatoes, Lemon juice 

1.      Grate or chop 1-2 raw potatoes with skin and grind them to make paste. Squeeze this paste and extract juice of it. Add 2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to it and apply this mixture on affected area for 30-40 minutes, wash it off with cool water. Repeat this once or twice a day for fast relief from sunburn.

2.      You can also use potato paste instead of juice, but then add 4-5 tablespoon of rose water to make smooth paste, as smooth paste is easy to apply on the skin.





3. Potato Slices

Take 2 thick slices of raw potato with skin and gently rub on your skin for 5-10 minutes, let the potato juice do its work. Rinse off with cool water. Follow this 3-4 times a day.



4. Potato with Turmeric

Mix fresh potato juice or paste with half teaspoon of turmeric powder and apply the paste on the sunburn for 30-40 minutes.

(Do not peel the potato, use its skin also) Wash it off with cool water and pat dry. Repeat this once or twice a day for fast relief from sunburn.


5. Potato with Curd

Mix 3 tablespoon of fresh potato juice or paste with half cup of curd, also add 1 tablespoon of honey in it, and mix them well. Apply this mixture on the affected sunburn skin for 30-40 minutes, and then wash it off with cool water and pat dry. Repeat this remedy once or twice a day to get rid of sunburn symptoms. 



6. Potato with Cucumber

Grate 1-2 raw potatoes and extract fresh juice from it, then grate 1 small cucumber to extract juice of it. Mix both juices with 2 pinches of turmeric and rub this mixture on the sunburn skin. Leave the application for 40-45 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. You can also use potato and cucumber paste, but make smooth paste. Try this remedy once or twice a day for fast relief from sunburn symptoms.
