This discovery backs up earlier research printed in the Nutrition Research journal in 2012 that said eating this spice or consuming supplements of it can improve one’s cardiovascular health as much as aerobic exercise.

So how does this simple spice work wonders? Well it is all in the compound of the turmeric that makes it so useful. It has a polyphenol compound called Curcumin. This compound gives the spice its bright colour and active properties that can empower cardiovascular system.

So how much turmeric one should consume? A study yells that one should consume a tablespoon on turmeric daily to get all the results. So it is suggested that one should consume 150 mg of turmeric a day. The content of curcumin in turmeric powder is 2%. As you must have noticed that this is very less. So if you take 150 mg of turmeric you will consume around 25 mg of curcumin. This amount of turmeric should be taken daily for two months to improve heart functioning.

Taking one teaspoon of turmeric daily can get heard, so an easy alternative to this is, to take turmeric extract capsules. These can be found in any medical store easily.

Also, exercise!

By now you must be feeling that just by consuming enough turmeric you will become healthiest of you have ever been. But, this is not the case. Turmeric can just act as an aid to an already healthy body. So, for that you need to exercise regularly. Although curcumin helps the bolstering of cardiovascular function, don’t forget about physical activity entirely! Nothing can replace the fortification that our body gets by physical exercise.

So put your running shoes on and get going. This way you will get double the benefit of both working out and curcumin. Experts suggest a 1 hour of moderate workout for a healthy cardiovascular system. You can also opt for one hour and fifteen minutes' intense workout per week. This can include aerobics or running or you can go for a combination of both. You can also add muscle strengthening activities for 2 or more days a week.

Moderate activity includes dancing, canoeing, biking on level ground, gardening, brisk walking, and water aerobics.

Vigorous activity includes: aerobic dance, jumping rope, jogging, running, swimming laps, brisk walking, play tennis with singles, and biking faster than 10 miles an hour.

Apply buttermilk directly

Buttermilk with lemon juice

If your skin is oily, then add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice in buttermilk and apply for 15 minutes, wash off with lemon water or lukewarm water. Use honey as moisturizer after wards. 

Tomato juice with buttermilk with

Mix 1 tablespoon of buttermilk with 2 tablespoon of fresh tomato juice or pulp. Apply on affected areas for 20-30 minutes, rinse off with normal or lukewarm water. This will reduce the dark spots and scars.


2. Yogurt

Yogurt is very effective and easy way to lighten dark/brown spots naturally.

Yogurt with lemon & beasan

Prepare fine paste of 2 tablespoon organic of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of besan or multani mitti. Apply this mixture on your face for 20-30 minutes and wash off. 

Yogurt with orange peel powder

Mix 1 tablespoon of dried powdered of orange peels with 2 tablespoon of yogurt, apply for 20-30 minutes and rinse off.

Yogurt with tomato juice & honey

For faster result, apply mixture of yogurt with 1 teaspoon of tomato juice and 1 teaspoon of honey on the affected area and under eyes area before going to bed and leave it overnight, in the morning wash it off with cold water.

Take 2 tablespoon of plain yogurt, add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice in it and apply it directly onto dark spots or age spots and leave it to dry for 20-30 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water.

Yogurt with Oatmeal

Make smooth paste of one tablespoon of plain yogurt, two tablespoon of ground oatmeal, also add one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice in it. Apply this mixture for 20 minutes, and rinse off. After this apply 1 teaspoon of honey or other natural moisturizer for 10 minutes. Follow this remedy every day for 5-6 weeks to get lightening results. 

Yogurt with mint leaves

Mix 2 tablespoon of yogurt with 1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves paste and 1 tablespoon of rose water. Apply this paste on the skin for 20-30 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. You can apply some homemade moisturizers thereafter. Repeat this once a day or 3 times a week for fast result.

2. Lavender

Lavender has a soothing & calming effect on one’s nervous system. It stimulates relaxation and alleviates depression.

1. Take 2 cups of water and boil it. Take two to four drops of lavender (in the form of essential oil) and add it to the boiling water. Inhale this steam. Repeat as and when needed. This will ease anxiety.

2. Another method: Take a teaspoon of almond oil/ olive oil (or other base oil). Add three to four drops of lavender oil to this. Massage this oil onto your back, shoulders & neck. This can be repeated every day or few times ever week until anxiety subsides.


3. Almonds

Almonds are rich sources of nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids which improves our mood and reduces anxiety, depression, tiredness and fatigue. omega-3 fatty acids has anti-inflammatory properties which fights cellular inflammation that breakdowns the signaling system between brain cells.

1. Soak 5-6 almonds in water overnight. In the next morning, remove the skin and grind them or crush them to form a paste. Mix this almond paste wth 1 tablespoon of ginger paste or powder in glass of warm milk. Do this on regular basis until you see desired improvement.

4. Green Tea

Green Tea or herbal tea is very beneficial in anxiety and depression treatment. It contains amino acid called L-theanine which maintains moderate level of heart rate and balanced blood pressure.

5. Chamomile

Matricaria Recutita  is a compound chamomile contains. This helps one to calm down and eases anxiety. Some people suffer from mild to moderate Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Chamomile helps ease anxiety symptoms in such people. It also provides relaxation and makes one feel drosy as it has a mild tranquilizing affect.

1. Take two or three teaspoons of chamomile (dried ones - especially German chamomile) add this to a cup of hot water and let it remain for three to five minutes time. Now, strain it. If you prefer, you can add few drops of honey and even cinnamon to this. This mixture should be consumed few times per day for a month (can continue until there is an improvement in anxiety levels).
