11. Salt water

mix 2 teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water and keep it in your mouth for up to 30-60 seconds at a time and spit it out. Salt water cleanses the part around the tooth and removes some of the fluid that causes swelling and irritation. Repeat the above step as often as required.


12. Ice Cubes

Put small ice cube on the affected tooth for quick & temporary relief from toothache. Wrap small ice cube in piece of cloth and put it between the affected teeth, this will make the nerves insensitive. You can put ice pack on your cheek, over the painful tooth for temporary relief.


13. Black tea

A warm and wet tea bag is a typical home remedy for toothache. Black tea contains astringent tannins, which may lessen swelling and irritation and gives temporary and quick relief from toothache.


14. Acupressure techniques

You can try an acupressure method to stop toothache quickly. With your right hand thumb, press downs the point on the back of your left hand where the base of your thumb and your index finger get together. Press this point for 2-3 minutes. This helps activation of endorphins release, which reduces pains.






15. Baking Soda

1.    Take 1-2 teaspoon of baking soda and add few drops of water to make smooth paste of it, dip small cotton ball in this paste and directly put on the affected tooth.

2.    Or add 2 tablespoon of baking soda in glass of warm water and rinse your mouth or use as mouth wash for pain relief.



16. Bayberry

Bayberry is very effective in pain relief and strengthening of the gums.
Make 1 tablespoon smooth paste of bayberry bark and add 1 teaspoon of vinegar in this paste. Roll over small clean cotton ball in this paste and put it on the affected tooth for pain relief.


18. Wheatgrass Juice

Wheatgrass contains natural antibacterial properties that will reduce the tooth pain and it also fights tooth decay. Make the juice of wheatgrass and use it as a pain killing mouthwash. Wheatgrass juice will absorb toxins from the gums, which causes tooth pain, it reduces the growth of bacteria and thus, it keeps the infection under control. You can simply chew the wheatgrass directly.



19. Pepper and Salt

Mix 1 teaspoon of pepper in ½ teaspoon of black salt or plain salt, add ½ teaspoon of honey in this mixture and make smooth and fine paste of it. Apply this mixture directly on the affected tooth with the help of cotton ball for pain relief.



20. Alcohol

Alcohol such as whiskey or brandy is traditional homemade pain killing remedy, simply dip cotton ball in brandy or whiskey, and place it around the part of the tooth pain and let it sit. Repeat this as often as needed till you can get to the dentist.


21. Peppermint Leaves

Chew 2-3 fresh peppermint leaves. and hold them between affected teeth.

23. Apple Cider Vinegar

Soak a small cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and put it on the affected tooth.



24. Cayenne Pepper

Mix half teaspoon of cayenne pepper with water to make paste and put this paste on affected area to reduce pain


25. Vanilla Extract

Vanilla extract is another recommended home remedy for treating toothache because it helps numb the pain and gives cooling effects.

1.    Simply dip a clean cotton ball in vanilla extract and dab it on the affected area for few minutes.
2.    Repeat this a few times a day until you get relief from pain.




26. Tea Tree Oil

1.    Put 2-3 drops directly on affected area.
2.    Dip small cotton ball in tea tree oil and hold in affected area.
3.    Add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil to a glass of lukewarm to warm water and rinse your mouth.



27. Oil of Oregano

1.    Mix few drops of oregano oil with a bit of olive oil, and saturate small cotton ball with this mixture. You can replace the olive oil with garlic paste or clove oil or garlic oil.
2.    Add 4-5 drops of oregano oil in glass of lukewarm water and rinse your mouth several times a day.


28. Potato

1.    Peel and cut a fresh piece of raw potato and hold in affected region.
2.    Alternatively, prepare some raw potato paste and add some salt or black pepper powder or cayenne pepper powder and put it on painful tooth.
