Rice Water for Gorgeous Hair and Flawless Skin


Rice Water is one of the proven beauty secrets of Asian especially Japanese Women. Their soft, spotless and shiny skin is so gorgeous and you would definitely love to have such glowing healthy skin. So next time you boil rice, think twice before throwing the rice water.


Rice water for skin care

Rice water is helpful in escalating the production of collagen maintaining skin elasticity. Chemical structure of rice water helps in regeneration and also reduces dead and damaged skin cells. Rice contains a substance called ‘oryzanol’ which can help reduce the skin pigmentation and protect us from ultraviolet.


Rice water contains vitamin E which nourishes the skin and makes it look younger and healthy. Rice also has Ferulic acid that acts as an antioxidant to protect our skin from free radicals and dirt.


Reduces the pore size

To get rid of ugly pores, damp a clean cotton ball into the rice water and apply onto your skin. Wash off with cool water after 30 minutes. The rice water works as an astringent and therefore tightens the pores, making it appear lesser. It also firms up the pores and gives a firm texture to the skin.


Acne healer

Acne/pimples can be easily treated with rice water in less time. Apply some rice water on the acne by using a clean cotton ball. It will remove acne and scars gradually.


Cure eczema

The starch components presents in rice water help in healing eczema. Apply some rice water mixed with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar on the affected area for 50-60 minutes. Repeat this daily, twice a day to treat eczema.


Brighten skin

Use rice water as your regular face wash to get glowing skin. It will gradually develop your skin tone. Damp the clean cotton in rice water mixed with some lemon juice and honey and apply this mixture on your face. Wash it off after 30 minutes with normal water. Do this on regular basis, once a day.


Rice water can give you flawless skin and lighten the skin over a period of time. It helps in reducing hyper-pigmentation, age spots, sunburn and sun tan. Rice water contains skin essential minerals, vitamins & antioxidants called ‘allantointhat’ and ‘ferullic acid’ has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.


Rice Water for Hair care

Plain or fermented rice water is an outstanding conditioner. It repairs damaged hair and scalp and strengthens hair shaft while providing silkiness and elasticity.

You can add few drops of essential oils like rosemary, lavender, chamomile or almond oil for extra nourishment. Washing your hair with rice water improves manageability and protects them from future damage.

The amino acids, minerals & vitamins present in the rice water strengthen the hair roots and repairs damaged scalp.


After shampoo

After shampooing, apply the rice water on your hair and gently massage your scalp and hair. Leave this application for 4-5 minutes and rinse off thoroughly with normal water. Follow this once or twice a week.



Rice water shampoo

Rice water can be used as a mild cleanser as it contains natural saponins. For best cleansing add 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder or shikakai powder or amla powder to rice water.


Hair Mask

To get long silky shiny hair, pour the rice water on hair and scalp, such that it reaches to the hair roots and scalp. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water. Shampoo and apply some conditioner to it. Repeat this once or twice a week.


Remember

Rice water can be build up on hair over time, particularly if you have hard or heavy water. So, add some orange peel powder (1 tbsp), shikakai powder (1 tbsp), amla powder (1 tbsp), lemon juice (1 tbsp) or apple juice with rice water. It will remove build up and make your hair shiny, soft and smooth.
