Irregular
menstruation/period medically known as ‘oligomenorrhea’, has become a
chronic health problem for most females. It generally refers to irregular
periods with intervals of more than 35 days. Woman experience delayed
menstruation often gets cramp within the breast and go through the heaviness in
the lower abdomen due to irregular menstruation cycle. They could also feel
tiredness and suffer with sickness, nausea and vomiting.
A normal menstrual
cycle pattern ranges from 21-35 days. Menstrual bleeding generally lasts for
2-7 days. Women normally have 11-13 periods in a year, when menstrual bleeding
occurs that is not part of the regular menstrual cycle. But women suffering
from irregular periods may have less than 6-7 periods.
There are many
reasons for the delayed menstruation which may differ from person to person.
There are many reasons of irregular periods, but the most common reason is a
hormone imbalance in woman. At the ends of the menstrual life of a woman
(menopause), menstrual periods may be irregular. Causes for delayed periods can
be both normal and abnormal.

bring back the regularity in menstruation cycle.
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is very
popular as a female tonic. The compound called emmanagouge in aloe Vera can
help to regulate menstrual flow by regulating your hormones. Take Aloe Vera
juice daily to help with your irregular periods.
1. Extract 1 tablespoon fresh aloe Vera gel or
juice from aloe plant. Add 1 tablespoon of honey to it and consume this
combination with cup of warm water in the morning on an empty stomach. Consume
this once a day.
Note: Do not consume this mixture during your menstrual
periods; resume the consumption after 3 days when periods are over.
2. Figs
Boil 5-6 figs in cup
of water for 1-2 minutes, strain the water and consume it once a day on regular
basis. This remedy will normalize your menstrual cycle.
3. Parsley juice
Drink 75 ml of fresh
parsley juice with 1 tablespoon of honey daily to prevent irregular periods and
abdominal cramps.
4. Sugarcane juice
Drink glass of
sugarcane juice, with 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, it will help you in
getting your menstrual periods on time.
5. Grape juice
Drink glass of grape
juice every day to regulate menstrual periods.
6. Basil/Tulsi
Prepare paste of 8-10
fresh basil leaves; add ½ teaspoon of black pepper powder and 1 tablespoon of
honey to it. Consume this mixture once or twice a day for 4-6 weeks.
7. Turmeric
Proper consumption of
turmeric can regulate your menstrual periods, it also balance the hormones
fluctuations. Turmeric can normalize all reproductive organs and its emmenagogue
property stimulates menstrual flow.
Turmeric has
antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties, which reduces menstrual pain,
muscle pain and abdominal cramps.
1. Mix one-quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder
with glass of warm milk, also add one tablespoon of honey or jaggery in it.
Drink this every day until you see improvement in your menstrual periods.
2. Add a pinch of turmeric powder in cup of hot
water and drink on regular basis until the periods are normal.
8. Cinnamon
Cinnamon is very
helpful in curing excessive menstrual bleeding; consumption of cinnamon gives
you warming effects. Cinnamon can normalize the irregular menstrual cycles and
also reduces menstrual cramps. Cinnamon contains hydroxychalcone which helps
regulate insulin levels; it can improve the body’s ability to produce glucose
and insulin.
1. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder (dalchini)
with glass of milk, drink this mixture every day before going to bed at night
for few weeks.
2. Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder in your
regular or herbal tea, drink this warm tea daily. Drink this tea once or twice
a day.
3. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder on the
fruit or vegetables salad or add cinnamon in your regular food.
4. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder with glass
of carrot juice, also add 1 tablespoon of honey in it. Drink the juice in the
every morning for several weeks.
5. Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder in 1
tablespoon of honey and consume this mixture every day to regulate your
menstrual periods.
6. Take ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and 2
tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, add both of them in glass of warm water and
drink once a day for few weeks.
