1. Basil

Basil has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Its healing properties and soothing qualities will help reduce swelling and pain as well as speed up the healing process.

1.  Boil ten basil leaves in a glass of water. Mix in four crushed peppercorns to it. Boil it till only about half a glass of water is remaining in the pan. Strain the mixture and combine some sugar with it. Drink it hot thrice a day.

2.  Add 10 to 12 basil leaves to one and one-half cups of water. Boil for 10 minutes. Strain and add the juice from one lemon to this mixture. If needed, add one teaspoon of honey to sweeten it. Drink this three times a day for two to three days.


2. Salt water

Salt will help kill the virus or bacteria. Additionally, salt helps in reducing the swelling, giving you instant relief.

Mix one teaspoon of table salt in a cup of warm water. Gargle with the solution. Do not swallow it. Spit the water out after gargling. Repeat this as often as possible for speedy recovery.



3. Lemon

Drink a mixture made up of warm water and lemon juice, with a squeeze of salt and dark pepper added to it.

Sprinkle a bit salt and pepper on a slice of lemon, and after that suck on the lemon cut. It will help force the phlegm out of your throat. Do this a few times each day for a few days.




4. Turmeric

7. Cayenne pepper with slippery elm

Combine 2-3 teaspoons of the powdered bark of slippery elm, a teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder, two teaspoons of honey and four teaspoons of warm water. Take one teaspoon of this mixture at consistent intervals for two to three days.



8. Cinnamon

Add one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a glass of hot water. Mix in two teaspoons of honey. Sip on it slowly while it is still warm. Drink this two or three times a day for one week.

1.  Take cup of warm water and add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of fresh lemon or orange juice in it. Also add one teaspoon of honey in this warm water.

2.  Mix it well and drink this warm water slowly. Consumption of this mixture gives relief from the pain and soreness. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.

3.  Gargle with apple cider vinegar. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in cup of warm water, also add half teaspoon of salt in it. Gargle with this mixture 2-3 times a day to cure sore throat.


2. Honey 

Honey contains some antibacterial property that fights against bacteria, infection and cure sore throat. It helps reducing swelling by drawing out the water from inflamed tissues.

1.  Consume 1 tablespoon of honey before going to bed to cure strep throat. You can also chew 3-4 fresh mint leaves with honey before you sleep. Don’t drink water after this. 

2.  Alternatively, mix one tablespoons of honey with cup of warm water and drink it slowly. Do this 2-3 times a day.

3.  Consumption of raw honey with hot tea is very effective for strep throat. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with warm regular or herbal tea, drink it slowly. Repeat this 3-4 times a day.  



Warning: Honey should not be given to children under 2 years as honey may carry bacteria which can cause some problems such as infant botulism, allergic reactions in infant.


3. Turmeric

1.  Boil 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and 1/2 teaspoon salt with 2 cup of water for 10 minutes. Strain the water and allow it to cool. Gargle with the water twice a day


2.  Mix half teaspoon of turmeric powder with cup of warm water. Drink this mixture slowly on an empty stomach in the morning. Follow this once a day for a week.

3.  Alternatively, you can mix half teaspoon of turmeric powder and half teaspoon of black pepper powder to cup of warm milk. Drink this mixture before going to bed.

4.  Mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric with half glass of hot milk, mix it well. Drink this warm milk twice a day to heal sore throat in few days.


4. Garlic

This is one best home remedy which cures sore throat quickly.


1.  Peel a fresh garlic clove and make two parts of it. Place these parts in each cheek and suck these garlic pieces like cough drops. Occasionally, crush these garlic pieces with your teeth slightly, do not bite it hardly, garlic contains chemical called allicin, which kills the bacteria that causes strep throat.



5. Gargle with warm salt water

Add 1 tablespoon of salt in glass of warm water, mix it properly and gargle with this warm salt water. Repeat this 3-4 times a day to get rid of sore throat. Salt water gargle reduces inflammation and cuts down the mucus.
